Why tea is a healthier drink than water

According to new research, drinking three or more cups of tea every day is as good for you as drinking your recommended eight glasses of water, and may even have extra bonus health benefits. The study aims to squash the common belief that tea is dehydrating. Not only does it rehydrate as well as water does, it can also protect the drinker from certain cancers and heart disease. Experts believe flavonoids (antioxidants that prevent cell damage) are the key ingredient responsible for tea’s link to good health.

“Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it’s got two things going for it.”
